In response to the tragedy, Sakevisual has announced a special sale on the Jisei series of games. All money generated by sales of the series through November 16th will be donated to Global Giving to support relief efforts in the Philippines. There is even a 15% off coupon to add further incentive to contribute to the cause. There are many ways for people to contribute at times like this, and I encourage everyone reading this to do something, no matter how small, because I do not believe any of us would like to live in a world without hope. So if there are certain things you do in these situations then by all means continue with what you do. But if you are uncertain, or had not considered doing anything; please, consider this option that Sakevisual has given us. Already own the games? Now, more than ever, is a good time to make it a gift for someone. I would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Sakevisual for taking this action, and hope to see these kinds of responses to human tragedy in the future throughout the EVN world and beyond.
Normally I am bringing you wonderful news from around the EVN world, but today I am bringing you news of a completely different tone. Super Typhoon Haiyan struck the Philippines at the end of this week and the devastation is, in some areas, total. Disasters of this magnitude cause unfathomable amounts of suffering and despair. Disasters also bring forth a human quality which knows no political, linguistic, religious, or cultural boundaries: hope. Victims, rescuers, and helpers all share in the hope of preserving life and rebuilding for the future. Sources of hope come from all around the world; even in our small little world of English visual novels.

Once more we will dive into the happenings of the EVN world. The month of October itself was a busy time with several releases aimed for Halloween and Halloween weekend. Cyanide-Tea’s Nachtigal released over the weekend as a pay-what-you-want game. A short, dark otome adventure in a Belgian vampire castle. it is definitely worth checking out. While you are at it, consider the possibility that this title could be a good gateway game for someone that is not in to EVNs. It is short, yet has several choices which affect the endings you can reach. It contains a nice mix of scenes ranging from light and humorous to dark and weighty. The price tag is not something you can really argue over either. Though do keep in mind the mature nature of some of the content and the trigger warning when you recommend it.
This week on the podcast, Cyanide Tea's Lorelei joins us on the show to talk about her and Auro Cyanide's latest project Nachtigal, the progress on Break Chance Memento as well as anime and otome! It's a conversation you'll enjoy from the first (but not last) guest on Sound Off!
It looks like it is that time again folks, time for the news! But before I delve into things that are happening in the EVN world I would like to take a moment to highlight an upcoming charity event. It is a mere coincidence, but a good one, that JP3 highlighted a charity he supports this month, so I shall share one of mine: Desert Bus for Hope! It is one of--if not the--largest gatherings of geeks and gamers from across the planet to raise money for the Child's Play Charity. I encourage everyone to check it out, share the news about it, or donate as you are able; anything you can do to help out is welcomed. The event begins on Saturday, November 16th. Let us get started with some new releases. Sleepless Night 2, a horror story brought to us by Marcel Weyer released on the 31st, in time for Halloween. With twenty ways to die and being offered for free, I wonder how many of you have survived to read this. Another Halloween release is from IDHAS Studios, a reimagining of the Rising Angel series: Rising Angels Reborn. You need not have experienced the original, nor shell out any cash, to play this sci-fi adventure with a dash of otome/yuri romance. October 25th brought us another free release: OK! Dinner!. Created by the 3-AR Studios group, it is a spin-off from OTChi Kocchi containing small side stories crafted out of the large amount of assets not used in the original game.
