Read Part 1 and Part 2
Also, potential spoiling warning here because I was bribed very well to do this and I think you should all see my payment!
Read Part 1 and Part 2 ...You guys should see the word file on my laptop for this feature. This is getting ridiculous and I fully blame everyone at Cyanide Tea for their extensive bribes that apparently manage to hit the expository button in my brain to make this happen. Anyway let's go into exactly what this entire thing is about on a thematic level because, if there's going to be weeping and gnashing of teeth, it'll be there.

Read Part 1 and Part 3 here! Chiaki SorataWell after Part One my friends, I'll promise to keep this short. After all, I don't want to drop below average in the second part, especially since most three-part series don't get any higher than its midway point. I assure you that the intellectual quality of my work will not shrink in the face of your growing expectations of me and I promise you this will be a head above any other blog happy to remain underwhelming. Yes my friends: today is going to be a good day to go big and ignore anything that stays small.
Also, Chiaki is short. Read Part 2 and Part 3 here! So, for roughly two years now an English Visual Novel I have been openly interested in is Cyanide Tea’s Break Chance Memento. The group spent most of 2012 getting the harmony of their collective efforts in tune and after two strong showings, BCM stayed high on my radar. In the past few weeks, a new demo covering about two chapters of the game was released and it is good. So good that I had to talk about it…I just didn’t realize I’d be talking about it quite this much.
So what was once going to be just a quick blurb advising you to at least check out the demo regardless of your feelings of its genre is now an epic three part look at what Break Chance Memento is shaping out to be! All of this is pretty much my first impressions and reflections of those impressions…and somehow it will be the longest feature on this very site. Weird. Anyway, the first two parts will cover my impressions of the characters and the scenes that best showed their potential and the third part will cover the themes of the game and I will discuss what could either make or break this one: the time travel mechanic. I will warn you in advance: this has pretty much gotten as long as it has because I dive pretty deep on this one. A lot of this will be my own theories but it's all based on what happens in-game. If you want a short version, here it is: it’s good. The two chapters really get you invested in the story without giving a great deal away and, like many a good demo, leaves you with more questions than answers. If you have not done so, this feature will involve some spoilers from that demo so feel free to go and play it, then come back here alright? For everyone else, let’s start with the main cast and, what better place to start than with a certain long-haired twat? Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you JesuOtaku (and Phelous).
Why does she look like Ed from Cowboy Bebop? If I seriously have to answer that, you haven't been following me long enough. So anyway PREVIOUSLY ON LIVE STREAMING W/ JO! Young JesuOtaku has decided to start playing English Visual Novels as a part of her weekend live show. If memory serves me right, so far she has played Katawa Shoujo from Four Leaf Studios and most recently Fading Hearts from Sakura River: that last one earned her the ire of the studio who made it. So I'm watching these shows and I think to myself, 'SELF! There is an opportunity here.' I could suggest JO play a few noteworthy EVNs just to even out what she considers bad...or I could keep the parade going for a bit longer. I don't make it a habit to do Worst Of lists or anything because, for the most part, I think that anyone who joins this medium is capable of doing good if they are willing to put in the effort and hard work to do so. That doesn't mean, however, that we don't get our share of so bad its good/hilarious and so bad its awful works. WITH THAT IN MIND, here are the rules. These are all free EVNs that are accessible for JesuOtaku to play RIGHT NOW. Not all of them will be bad. In fact the first four or five should be decent works that I think the young lady would just have a good time with. However, there will be some God-Awful stuff on here as well. So pass the list on and lets see if Our Lady of Otakudom can handle these. Let's get this started!
Hello all! Welcome to a new segment of the site I call Take Two! You see unlike mainstream games, there's no such thing a single English Visual Novel release. If a writer is so inclined they can go back and refine a previously released project to develop their skills with a happy audience more than willing to return. And who am I to miss an opportunity to prove myself right...or wrong as the case may be? So here's how this is going to work. These will not be nearly as long or in-depth as the reviews and no scores will be changed. If I've reviewed it already it will stand. This will usually be a recommendation of support for writers and producers who show they're willing to put in the time and effort to get better and not just release schlock and call it a day. So, what better place to start than with something I've review recently: S-Morishita's A Troll's Fairy Tale. You can read the original review here but this was a NaNoRenO title that suffered from most of the problems NaNoRenO titles do. It's a decent love story that revealed in its fantasy world and managed to endear in many parts, so it'll surprise absolutely no one to hear that nothing has changed story wise. Instead more administrative and artistic work was done to give it a stronger presentation. The grammar, which was the weakest point of the original launch, has been cleaned up and while there are some spots here and there that I know my old English teachers wouldn't approve of, I personally don't want to tear my hair out reading it now so that's a vast improvement.
Also the title is much more user friendly now with an updated interface that cleaned up most of the problems I had with the original system. It's funny to think that simply going to the main menu from the game menu is a system improvement but I'll take what I can get. Finally young Morishita has added several Event CGs to compliment the overall story and they all look great. While she certainly has a lot of room for improvement, Morishita is very talented and can put together some good stuff, as seen above. This is also the first time we get a clear look at our main character Acacia instead of the formless blob her avatar is. That avatar, sadly, is not changed but from the CGs you can see how she can appear like a typical barbaric troll if she wanted to and how she could appear like a big softy whenever no one is looking. So, if you haven't played A Troll's Fairy Tale yet I think you should: especially if you're into otome. The otome EVN blogs (yeah I know you guys exists) has been raving about this thing and it definitely shows S-Morishita's potential in the medium. Here's looking to even better for her in the days ahead. You can download A Troll's Fairy Tale here!
Well I've never done one of these, but it seems appropriate in the light of two years of existence. I have done a video thanking everyone for their support of the site and that was the emotional side of the anniversary. This is the more corporate side, believe it or not this IS an actual company, so if most of you decide to skip it I completely understand. Hell, it's why the lead picture for this is me on WALL STREET. But I did want to look forward a little bit and talk just about a few behind-the-scenes bits I'm working on.
