We here at VNs Now usually keep an eye out during March, only for the real fun to begin in April when the clock hits zero and whatever’s on the table is ours to consume. Last year Shadow and I had a Hell of a feast during one of the most intense competitions that mankind has ever devised…BINGO. That card is being reworked for a more…home-friendly version and I have a few ideas for some of the finished projects. All of this, as stated earlier, will occur in April. Until then we will do our upmost to profile the works in progress that catch mine (and your) attention.
And I suppose this is also the right time to make this announcement as well. Roughly six months ago, I lost my temper on Twitter with the otome fandom that refused to believe I didn’t have anything but seething hatred for the subgenre. While I cannot find the quote, it was something along the lines of, ‘I guess nothing short of getting trapped in an otome game and coming out the other side a squee-ing idiot will convince you guys huh?’
Yeah…I’m not saying it was one of my finer moments but it happened. Regardless, the thought has been stuck in my head for a while now and when I haven’t been working on VNs Now, or my jobs, or the elections in November, or just my life in general, I’ve been sketching out something I have tentatively titled Incomplete Love Story. The title is a reference to a song on the OST of my favorite anime of all time: Ghost in the Shall SAC 2nd Gig. Those who know my past work as an amateur writer know that I am not the guy you come to for a happy, light tale. And after a few drafts, while it isn’t the ocean of blood and intrigue I’m used to; it’s a story I’ve really enjoyed working on. And, unfortunately, one of the few fictional works I actually finished planning out…OTR.
So, tomorrow, I will begin the hunt for an artist to commission and attempt to make this thing a reality in 28 days. This won’t be a regular thing, of course. As the saying goes, ‘Those who can, do; those who can’t, critique’ right? So if I can make this happen, don’t expect any sequels or other ideas. If nothing else though, I can report what I learn, either from success or failure, to you guys in hopes that it can be used to create something better than I could ever dream up! And the goal of this site is partially to give aspiring creators the tools they need to go beyond just average. So along with the fun of April and the reporting from this month, I’ll also keep you updated on ILS’ progress as the situation develops on Twitter!
I’m happy to join with InnoMen Productions and celebrate the successful crowd-funding for Sierra Ops! This RPG/Visual Novel hybrid earned a grand total of $10,420: well over its requested $4,500. Joining with other space opera titles like Sunrider and Rising Angels, Sierra Ops puts you in the shoes of Captain Junius Farenheit and the crew of the Sierra as they attempt to turn the tide in Earth’s war against the Ares Confederacy AKA Mars. Fans of the Universal Century and Killzone will find something to love in the title while the RPG junkies in our midst will find something to love with customizing the ship for its battles. Hopefully we’ll get a strong release date in the near future but, until then, enjoy this teaser trailer!

And, for now anyway, that’s it! Stay tuned for more reviews and updates on NaNoRenO as March rolls on! This has been JP reporting for VNs Now!
