Usually this is Will’s gig, but with the big guy on temporary hiatus I will be pinch hitting in giving you the news! And in the weeks leading up to NaNoRenO 2014 there is a lot of exciting news coming out of the community to cover. So this week, news from several big names and a few demos that caught my eye. Shall we get started?
Currently it is still in very early development so there is no estimated date of completion or any demo to test out. There is also no word if the Normal Boots crew will provide vocal work but if that were to happen, we will report it here.
The Kickstarter goal is 49,000 CAD to ensure the same quality from Episode 1. As of this update, the game has raised 9,296.00 CAD after only two days. Everyone here wishes Dischan luck in continuing the series and we’ll report on the results of the Kickstarter when it’s all said and done.
“C-14 Dating (tentative title) is an upcoming otome dating sim that combines archaeology, friendships and love.
You play as Melissa Flores, a 3rd year anthropology student participating in a summer archaeological internship. The field school takes place in Belgium, over 5000 miles away from your native California! Okay, it’s a little bit out of your comfort zone, and the fact you’ll be staying in an unfamiliar country for two months can be nerve-racking, but you couldn’t pass up such a learning opportunity! You get to excavate at an authentic prehistoric site, which has uncovered Neanderthal remains in the past.
Maybe you’ll dig up some bones, or even unearth tools that were manufactured by early humans. And of course, you might forge friendships and find romance during your stay…”
Finally, we are happy to join with Moacube and celebrate Cinders being Greenlit on Steam! Cinders joins Dischan's Dysfunctional Systems (2013 EVN Studio of the Year), Hanako Games' Long Live the Queen (2012 Best EVN Hybrid), Winter Wolves' Loren the Amazon Princess (2011 EVN Studio of the Year) and Love Conquers All's Analogue: A Hate Story (2012 EVN of the Year) on the popular gaming portal. Congratulations to Moacube and here's hoping you won't be alone as more and more EVNs find their way onto Steam!
With NaNoRenO around the corner, it has been a light week in terms of new releases. We do have Ex Astris Chapter 2 that was released this week, which is the sequel to the rebooted LINEAR: Divine Seer series that I reviewed a few years ago. You can read that review here. However, as March comes in you can expect not only NaNoRenO releases, but the return of EVN BINGO! More details on that in March..
So, the bottom line is that these two demos really impressed me with their potential and I encourage everyone to give them a look if you have the time! This has been JP reporting for VNs Now! Till next time!
